Computer Requirements for Statler
Computers eventually become outdated, have components fail, or loose their "POSHness" and we need to replace them. This can happen with the computers connected to the Statler Systems.
I often get questions about what is the minimum requirements to run the Statler Stitcher. The quick answer is that any "new" computer will have the capacity ro tun the software as long as it has an Ethernet port and a CD/DVD rom and can run the current version of MS Windows (which is the real hog of any PC). I run my Statler with a MacBook Pro. Beyond that, there are specifics about a computer that will help make the Statler experience more enjoyable.
Creative Studio 3.0 is written in a manner to take advantage of duel-processors. What does that mean, you ask? Well many current computers are designed with two or more brains to process data. The more processors = you can do more at one time. So looking for a new computer with more than one processor is a good thing for your main Statler computer or for a mobile system used in SAM production. Will, I know that some of you are too OCD to accept that answer, so here are the specs on a system that will run the Statler just fine. NOTE: In any case, you can always contact Statler Stitcher at their 800 number and give them the specs of the computer you are thinking of purchasing. I did consult with Matt Sherman (the creator of CreativeStudio) on the following specs. A duel 2.6 Ghz Processor - although this isn't really that important nowadays. 1 Gig of RAM 256 meg of Graphic memory is nice - although shared memory is also fine. A mouse with a scroll wheel is a must! Windows XP Home, Pro, Vista or 7 As far as a monitor, the sky's the limit. I feel that a 19" is a good minimum. Beyond that I have customers that have mounted 50" flat screen TV's over their systems - so which ever floats your boat. Tags: Untagged
