QuiltBlogPiecing, quilting, longarm or domestic, creative or technical... QuiltBlog is about everything to do with quilting! This blog is supported and maintained by our school teachers within TheQuiltingSchool.com.
Filming a new FREE videoI filmed yesterday with Todd. The filming process is fascinating. Remembering to look into the camera, visualizing you all making the book structure that I am teaching. I love teaching because of the triangular interaction between the student, the teacher and the subject. It is the same when I am long-arm quilting. I imagine the person that is gifiting the quilt and the person that is receiving the quilt. There is genuine energy in the entire process. I am happy to be another connecting link in the journey of this particular quilt. Those of us who have the blessing of adding the decorative and very useful stitches to the quilt that will become a treasured part of the receivers have much to be thankful for. This is one of the reasons I enjoy long-arm quilting so much. It is this journey of love, time and attention. The gift seems to keep on giving over and over again. Each time I cuddle under a quilt that my Grandmother and Grandfather quilted for me, I have the same feeling of comfort, warmth and love. The gift just keeps on giving. Creating books has the same effect. There is the glorious process of creating something that is both beautiful and functional, we are on this journey together. ... Last night I went with my sister to our church’s women Christmas celebration. The theme was ‘angels among us’. I immediately thought of Linda and Rick. They have been angels for us. They have taken us under their wings and are showing us how to fly. Before I met them, I did not know about long-arm quilting or embroidery machines. Now I can quilt, embroider and use those skills to add variety and dimension in my books. I am so thankful for their love, friendship and concern. Do you have quilting or creating angels in your life? Write and tell me your angel stories. This is the season for remembering Him and those who do His work. Create everyday.
