HOW TO USE: Gallery

Purpose: Explanation of how to access and view the site Gallery

Difficulty: Easy

Step 1: Click on the 'Gallery' menu item at the top of any page.

The site gallery is a depository of images for quilt projects and other related images. It is divided into two main sections: Teacher And Student. The teacher gallery contains examples of work done by the respective teacher. This section requires you to be registered with the site, but you don't need a subscription. The student section is a public gallery for posting of student work. This section is accessible by anyone.

Teacher Section:

Step 1: Click on the Teacher Galleries link.

Each teacher gallery is listed in alphabetical order. Notice that next to each name is displayed the number to images in each gallery.

Step 2: To view a gallery, click on the teacher name.

A thumbnail view of each image will appear below the teacher title card.

Step 3: Click on an image.

The image will load on top of the page. The load time will depend on the size of the image and your internet connectivity.

NOTE: All images in the teacher galleries are assumed to be copyrighted and not available for download.


Student Section:

Step 1: Return to the gallery main page by clicking on the 'Gallery' menu item at the top of any page.

Step 2: Click on the Student Galleries link.


User Control Panel:

As a registered member with the site, you can upload images to the gallery. This is used to show work, upload images of workshop projects for teachers and for quilt games. This is done in the User Control Panel of the gallery.

Step 1: Return to the gallery main page by clicking on the 'Gallery' menu item at the top of any page.

Step 2: Click on the 'Go To User Control Panel' at the top left of the gallery. (just under the page banner)

A list of your current uploaded images is displayed. Each student is allowed to create gallery up to 5 categories and upload up to 500 images.

Step 3: Click the 'New Picture' button to upload images.

COPYRIGHT NOTICE:
The owner of this website grants you the right to upload pictures on the server that will then be visible to and accessible by the public. Pictures underlie copyrights and third party rights. Solely upload pictures that you have taken yourself and that are certainly free of third party rights. The owner of the website rejects any responsibility for pictures uploaded by you and will pass on all third party claims that subject copyright violation or other forms of misuse. By uploading picture you give your explicit consent to this agreement.

Step 4: Enter a title of the images (often the name of the quilt project).

Step 5: Choose a category. (Note: You will need to first create the category if is does not already exist.)

Step 6: Enter a description possibly telling what techniques were used, materials, etc...

Step 7: You can upload up to 3 images at a time. Keep in mind that even though the size limit is 2meg, smaller images load faster and will be easier on other site members. Click on the 'Browse' button and locate the picture on your computer.

Step 8: Click 'Upload'.

If all goes well you will see something like the following displayed:

If the image goes not upload, an error will be displayed. Most common reasons for error, is the image exceeds the 2 meg limit.
