Irena Bluhm was born and raised in Poland. She moved to Germany in 1981 and moved again to the United States in 1991. She works at her spacious studio located on a farm property in a rural area of Antlers, Oklahoma. When she discovered the wonderful world of quilting and purchased her own Gammill Optimum Plus along with Gammills Design Center in November 2004, she became fascinated by the new possibilities it presented.

She was brimming with ideas for quilt designs to be used on quilts created for competitions and exhibits nationwide.Since she purchased her quilting machine, she has participated in numerous national and international quilt contests and exhibits. Her quilts have won multiple awards. In March of 2006, she began teaching classes and workshops nationwide. She likes to challenge herself by experimenting with different techniques, materials and mediums as she passionately seeks innovative and unconventional ways of producing high quality show quilts.Irena loves to inspire and share her knowledge with others. She has plenty in store to share.

Since she joined the quilting world just a little over 3 years ago and using quilting as an art form ever since; she produced multiple show quilts, which won her 49 awards in national and international quilt contests, has been teaching classes and workshops nationwide for 2 years , created hundreds of quilting patterns and completed 4 books. She will continue working on developing new techniques, creating more show quilts, books, patterns, CD's, and DVD's.
